The Al Bhed are a very technologically advanced race whose language has been strived to be kept secret. In other words they appreciate only those who carry the Al Bhed gene to use their language, like alot of other races; a sort of "dignity".
They dedicate their time to machines that they call Machina. Nearly all Al Bhed are great mechanics. The most famous of their Machina are the land, air and sea cruisers. The Machina are colored, built and shaped to stand out, giving them a futuristic appearance. Even children are taught at a young age to take on a variety of tasks. From building or repairing a Machina, to understanding the combinations of Alchemy; the mixing of two or more compounds to make one new substance. This was known in the medival times, but only as a philosophy.
All Al Bhed wear very flamboyant colors and equipment. Most pure blood Al Bhed don't have normal pupils. Instead, the iris is filled with a swirled pupil. Green eyes and blonde hair also run in their gene, along with an extra-strong lung capacity and resilience toward dry, scorching terrain. But to help them survive in their rough homelands, outside of buildings they are dressed in thick body suits, goggles and masks that protect them from constant, outrageous sand storms.
Al Bhed go by no religion and only believe that once a being has passed away it is the end of that life. Only the memories of the person keep the spirit alive, but there is no other place outside of the world that these spirits go onto (a Heaven).
