Elves are the distant, elder cousins to the Pixies and are slender beings with an affinity for nature. With a lighter frame than Humans, what they lack in strength and stamina is made up for in their swift agility - both in thought and movement. Most elves have fair skin and choose to keep their straight hair long and sometimes dyed to match their personalities. They have no facial hair though. Elves are not susceptible to illness, and age very slowly. While Elves assert that they do not die of old age, they do eventually grow tired with life and recede into themselves. Elves are able to breed outside of their race only with Humans and Drow, though the latter is quite infrequent and usually not with the consent of all involved. All Elves possess the inherent ability to detect magic.

Elves are remarkably proficient in all facets of the arts. They are generally renowned for the great precision, creativity, and detail of their work. The Elvish race is also known as willing to try new things, seen most notably in their experimentation with the arts - the cause of many new designs and innovations. The practice of using magical spells for artistic pursuits is considered by most to be an innovation of the 'Fair Folk'. Early Elves kept their history in the form of art, unlike most other races who used the written word. Today, not much is known about early Elven history as a result of this form of documentation that helps to exemplify the unique, rich culture of the Elven race.

Elves are one of the most ancient of the Mortal races, their existence becoming known during the second bout of creation. From the moment they were created up to roughly 3500 years ago, the Elves tended to live nomadic lifestyles; any settlements were small forest communities inhabited by few members. The Elves slowly began to spread throughout the Greenwood and surrounding forests, from their heart to the western coast. Their largest settlement by far has grown into the city of Alvondiel. Elves have also spread into many of the larger human cities such as Airu in much smaller numbers.

Many Elves worship the Goddess, said to be the mother of the Elven people. Those choosing other faiths often belong to the Green Order or Fylaia, as they are, more than any other race, in tune with nature. While Elves tend to get along with Humans and some of the more peaceful races such as Gnomes and Halflings, they often feud with the Dwarves and have a strong hatred of the Drow and Orcs. Although they are known to get along with Trolls, Goblins, Ogres, and the like from time to time, they are often mistrustful of these people.
