This covers a wide spectrum of beings, Werewolves being the best known. This is basically anyone who transforms into a "half animal" form like the image above at certain triggers. This form is actually called the "crinos" form by Lycanthropes and those who know them. These triggers can be any combination of the following:
Lycanthropy is passed on through the bodily fluids of another Lycanthrope. This makes the recipient an afflicted Lycanthrope unless a special rite is performed.
There are two major divisions of Lycanthropes, afflicted and natural. Afflicted Lycanthropes are the ones that are most likely to lose control with their transformations and they cannot control any aspect of their transformations. Natural Lycanthropes are most often born this way and they can control when and how they transform. They also retain their sentience and do not degrade to base behaviour.
