Pixies are small Elven creatures with tiny gossamer wings. They are very much more perceptive than most other races, but their strength and constitution suffer due to their small size. Because of this, Pixies often choose the calling of magicks as the focused mind of a Pixie has no equal. Pixies also possess the obvious ability of flight.
Pixies are slight of stature, standing from about 11 to 18 inches tall. Both their skin and hair colour varies from among all the colours of the rainbow, and their high voices, and light-headed, frivolous approach to living is characteristic of their race alone. The Pixies, along with some other, lesser races such as the Brownies and Imps, are known collectively as the "Fae".
Very little is known about early Pixie history, in fact, the race was not even discovered until roughly one-thousand years ago, when their sudden appearance mystified "civilized" people of the time. Thousands of years before the Fae revealed themselves to the world and started dealing with non-Fae, similar small winged beings were the subject of myths and legends. Some people believed that seeing a Pixie was good luck, others believed the opposite, but both assumed that Pixies were the figments of peoples' imaginations.
It is a complete mystery as to when, where and how the Pixies came to be. For the erratic and wild Pixies, stopping to record events was no fun, so they didn't bother. Other races, ones who keep track of and cherish the past, find this is a problem. When it comes down to it, though, the Pixies don't care.
